Difficulty
Moderate
Time
1 hour (+ 3 hours leavening time)
Ingredients (12 rolls)
- 250 g white flour
- 40 g room temperature butter
- 130 g fresh milk
- 30 g sugar
- 7,5 g baker’s yeast
- 1 egg
- 60 g raisins
- 60 g dark chocolate chips
- 1 bag powdered vanilla extract
- A pinch of baking soda
- A pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar (to taste)
How to make it
- Rehydrate the raisins by cooking them into a small pot of water; once the water is boiling, turn off the stove and leave everything to rest for 5 minutes, then drain.
- Pass the flour through a strainer and pour it into a sufficiently large bowl. Mix with sugar, salt, vanilla extract and baking soda until you obtain a smooth mixture.
- Heat the milk and diced butter in a pot for about 1 minute.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it gets firm enough to come off the sides of the bowl.
- Move the dough to a floured bowl, cover it with a cloth and leave it to rest for about 2 hours.
- Take the dough out of the bowl; add the raisins and chocolate chips, then knead for a few seconds.
- Cut the dough in equal parts and shape each one into a slightly flattened ball, cover them with a cloth and leave them to rest for about one hour.
- Turn on the oven at 200°C.
- Brush each roll with a mixture of beaten egg and milk, put them into the oven and bake for about 25 minutes.
- Let them cool down and cover the rolls with a thin layer of powdered sugar.
