There is something magical about this liqueur. People from our valleys make it with green walnut husks; according to ancient traditions, the husks should be picked the night before the feast of San Giovanni (June 24th), when they are still covered in dew (which was believed to have healing properties). The result of such process is a dark liqueur (it owes its colour to the high amount of tannins contained in the husks), with a scent that reminds that of fresh walnuts.
It is a classic digestive beverage, usually served with desserts or coffee after a meal.
